I'm more mixed on Nintendo. In general I either buy at launch because I'm super excited, or wait for a sale. Most Nintendo games don't quite fit into the first category, but never go on sale.

It does beg an interesting question, though, as it seems like among hyper enthusiast discourse - people who follow you, talk about games on Reddit and Blue sky etc - tend to evangelize being a patient gamer.
