It seems like the same thing happened after the 1918 Spanish Flu...it was a massive event at the time, and for a long time after, popular media made no reference to it. After something like that happens, nobody wants to be reminded of it.

My wife and I were #87 and #88. At least they did give us Spirited, that's a really fun holiday musical and it makes me want to see Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman doing one.

That sounds like something that is very much not unrelated.

Was it Chamblin Bookmine? That place is an insane used bookstore/massive fire hazard.

I’m waiting to see where the Vinz Clortho endorsement comes down. Make New York Sumeria Again!

It’s not a bubble though.

As a native of Lancaster (PA), yes.

She's just carrying a laundry basket in every frame. There's a lot of laundry in the mansion!

It is truly the darkest timeline.

And yet Tortoisehead would be awesome.

That’s a losing battle. Get machine washable rugs to put him on and he’ll get the satisfaction of puking on a rug and you can just wash it.

Wasn’t that at least partly what Star Trek V was about?

Yeah, sure if you want him to eat it.

I think there might be something in the agreement about transporting passengers in the back of the truck, though.

Along with Hairy Otter and Ron Weaselly?

I have to imagine one of the earliest protohuman experiences was a bunch of males sitting around watching another try to make fire, and discussing how he's using the wrong sticks.

That's interesting. I had heard a story about the advance warning of Operation Barbarossa, but never knew the source.

I think the whole "Cracking Enigma" story is probably one of the most easily relatable computer science developments. Even if people don't understand the math, they do understand how codes are used and why breaking them is important.

Baroque Cycle is what I was thinking, too. We also had "The Imitation Game", which would be at least in the same category as "Oppenheimer".

Sweet Caroline is also an option.

Is it a prequel and Jabba is Michael?
May 3, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Is it an uncanny valley kind of thing? Writers have to make characters, and if a character is 'wrong' it might be hard to point at exactly what isn't working. A set can be impressive or intricate or cool, but a set designer doesn't have to make something the audience relates to as a real person.

I heard it was Froderick.
