Communities deserve meaningful support and resources that advance dignity and autonomy, not a rebranded carceral system. The forced treatment scheme is just another way to control Black, brown, and working class bodies who have been underserved by our systems and remove them from our neighborhoods.

This is a not an evidence-based public health strategy. And framing it as one is bullshit.

There are no acceptable public health reasons for ripping people off the street, pushing them in front of a judge while they’re experiencing withdrawals, threatening criminal records to force people into services, and hunting down people that violate coercive and unrealistic terms.
