but linux is not UNIX :) Linux uses BSD4 which is not UNIX, BSD3 was based on UNIX and they had to remove UNIX because AT&T wasnt happy. Linux is UNIX-like but not UNIX.

i did something crazy. i took the menimal cd and i mounted it, copied its squashfs then uncompressed the squashfs in an .img file i made for gentoo and mounted that one and used this as uncompression target, and i am in now. now i need to figure out how to get a packagge manager running :3

First use chroot and if you did setup your bootstrap distro enough to be capable of running alone then use nspawn

What I did once, I made one home partition containing my user name folder and I put it in every distros fstab on my multiboot and then I never were forced to transfer the data. I am also usually very experimentful. I also experiment with sandboxing.

nspawn is better, it virtualises the system, means it has full systemd capabilities.

I love having control over my system and know what is installed on it, that’s why I often say that I cannot identify my self with average Ubuntu users. You know why…

Ohh my bad, I think gentoo is simulare to arch. It has a pretty simulare guide. I should try it. Gonna do it in a systemd-nspawn container just for fun.

did you used a installer or did you made the partitiontable from scratched and bootstrapped + configurated the system from scratch, because, well that was what i did in linux arch.

It seems to be a way friendlier place than Twitter. From the first hours I am here.
