Picked a fight with a man at our marina after his first reaction to learning my husband works for IU Indianapolis was to say, “don’t go closing West Street and making my commute harder.”

As a gay Catholic-turned-Episcopalian who truly wishes the church will continue to progress on LGBTQ+ and women’s issues, I don’t think a lot of liberal non-Catholics understand how tiny the baby steps will continue to be on those issues.
Today I remain hopeful progress will continue.

I’m trying, and I hope other people will try, to hold onto the simple notion that a US president cannot simply declare a federal law that was passed last year and literally upheld this week to be a nullity—even if it’s a not-so-hot law. The Congress is the body that can amend or repeal federal laws.
