Not quite proofs, but getting close: I'm putting some near-finishing touches on a chapter on time, creation, & eschatology in Augustine for Nina Emery's upcoming _Routledge Companion to Philosophy of Time_. It's a concise piece, so it's been a fun challenge.

Inspired by @w-ezekielgoggin.bsky.social, I spent part of Easter weekend translating a little Augustine. Here’s a snippet from Book 7 of the Confessions.

One of my students made stickers of Corregio's _Mystical Marriage of St. Catherine_ (1527) to accompany their presentation in our Renaissance/Reformation class today. That's commitment!

It was great to get a chance to reconnect with my old fellow maroons Daniel Kim & Mark Lambert to put out this CfP for a special issue of _Religious Studies & Theology_ on religion & medicine. Don't hesitate to let me know if you'd like to contribute! journal.equinoxpub.com/RST/about/su...

I was happy to open this email from Dr. Michele Pistone (Villanova) & the organizers of the Refugees & Migrants in Our Common Home event. Not 100% sure how I'll be getting to Rome (or where I'll be staying) next October, but I'll aim to figure out how to get there so I can talk about Augustine.

My most "old-man-coded" trait might be that I always chuckle at this comic whenever I gaze upon it...

While my American colleagues get to enjoy turkey & football after #SBLAAR24, I was immediately back in the classroom, testing out armour as part of a guest-lecture by my colleague Dr. Stephane Lemieux, who taught us all about medieval warfare. (Is this experiential learning?)

As delays abound at the San Diego airport, I might as well go ahead & post some culinary highlights from #SBLAAR24… The enchiladas with mole were the highlight.

It ain't over yet! #SBLAAR24 continues today with a stack of offerings on North Africa, as well as our big Augustine & slavery panel on the new books by Alimi & Elia. I'd also recommend checking out my pal Nabanjan Maitra's paper in the Jain Studies unit!

Scholars presenting on mysticism or medieval religion at #SBLAAR24 should also consider sending in an abstract for "Perspectives on Mystical Vision & Aesthetic Experience," our 2025 Cusanus Society conference in Gettysburg.
