Partaking in one of the few things that bring me a lil joy these days: watching Steph and my Warriors hoop

I’m also re-reading Franz Fanon’s classic interrogation of race, colonialism, and the psychology of revolutionary struggle — paired w/Dick Gregory’s Political Primer

And mannnn

Coming off 3 weeks of bed-ridden illness, I’ve been book hungry, reading parched…sooo yeah 🤷🏾‍♂️

B/c I’m one of those read multiple books at same time types, I’m also bout to crack open Musa Al-Gharbi’s “We Have Never Been Woke”

Book flap says it’s about “how a new ‘woke’ elite uses the language of social justice to gain more power…without helping the marginalized”

I couldn’t resist 💙📚

On deck: Clay Cane’s “The Grift” — fully annotated history of Black Repubs fr Frederick Douglass to the grift of Black MAGA

Fascinating history, esp on Lincoln & Reconstruction Era

Clay hopes the book will help “reclaim revisionist history, expose opportunists, and honor heroes”

So far so good 💙📚

Been on a book-buying tear last few months, which includes binging out at Mahogany Books at the National Harbor last month

Been buying mostly historical stuff to help me draw strength from the struggles of my ancestors …

Lots to chew on/argue in this

But it’s a good intro to the convergence of AI, bioengineering, quantum computing and the containment problem staring us in the face

It’s at times hopeful (and naive in some ways) but also pretty blunt about the frightening “fragility amplifiers” lurking 📚

Thid is how it sounded when you got online when the Internet first became publicly avail circa 1992ish 🌐🛜☎️📀💻

The Martha’s Vineyard Black Book Festival was lit

Got to hear Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson read and speak, didn’t even know she was slated to be there

I also didn’t know you’re not supposed to take pics of SC justices — until I was politely informed by a super friendly US Marshall

THE Spike Lee has a new movie coming out NEXT WEEK starring THE Denzel Washington and I haven’t seen a single ad for it or any promo except fr Spike

Either the studios SUCK at marketing - or something else is going on 🤔🧐🤨

Me? Oh I’m there. If Denzel is in a movie, I’m going 🎥🎬🍿

Who - or what - killed California's proposed broadband affordability law?

Wrote about it below and man...I sure hope the CA Assembly member who sponsored the bill is wrong

B/c if she's right, it's bad news for other states that have filed similar bills 🛜💻🌐⬇️

The Trump admin thinks Starlink can solve the digital divide so they changed the rules on how fed $$ could be spent on broadband infra to Elon’s benefit

Here I write about a new analysis that blows a huge hole in that starry eyed billionaire giveaway ⬇️

It’s come to this … in America, the “land of the free”

They are now arresting US Senators (Sen Padilla) just for asking questions

With federal fascism on the march, it’s vital for communities to build & fortify resilience

One way to do that: building publicly-owned, locally controlled telecom infrastructure

It ain’t easy but my hometown Oakland is on the path 💪🏾

I wrote about it here

It wasn’t the first time DT has unconstitutionally declared a law passed by Congress to be terminated, but the 86ing of the Digital Equity Act, which is part of BIPARTISAN Infrastructure LAW, is particularly egregious

I wrote about it here

Also been devouring books on cosmology

Call me crazy but I find it comforting being reminded that our existence is a speck of dust in the universe & not even fascists can bend Reality to their own distorted ends

The Laws of Nature work and no amount of “alternative facts” can evade it

Been re-reading Frantz Fanon and let’s just say it’s more than a historical curiosity

(Forgot how 🔥 Sarte’s preface was/is)

Excuse me while I run to the store to get another highlighter

The one I was using is all worn out fr highlighting Fanon passages

Best night of 2025 so far

And Steph Curry had 12 threes and 52 points tonight to beat the Grizzlies for the 5th seed

It’s cheese allll night for me

Been on a reading tear lately, plowing through books at breakneck pace

Highly recommend these @timothysnyder.bsky.social books, esp his analysis about negative freedom vs positive freedom

One of the many things DOGE myopia dodges is stuff like what @karlbode.com writes for us here

“The Affordable Connectivity Program generated more savings for taxpayers than it cost.” 💻 ⬇️

Serious hands-on learning at the 16th Tribal Broadband Bootcamp

TBB co-founder @matthewrantanen.bsky.social “accidentally” cut the fiber feed on the instructional network so JNet techs in training fr the Jemez Pueblo in NM could splice & fix

They had network back up & running in under 30 mins! 🙌🏾

The article really just scratches the surface

A more robust explanation of why fed investments should favor fiber networks can be found in our policy brief here ⬇️

Like a QB tryna get the ball to his wide receiver

You gotta thread the NID to get the instructional fiber network up and running here at the 16th Tribal Broadband Bootcamp kicking off this week
