While it’s true that they consulted people with disabilities about the benefit, they forget to point out that they ignored all the recommendations. They should be promising to do better, not singing their praises. #disability #canada

Sigh: Learn about the rotten roots of the modern anti-vaccine movement, and of the misinformed and skewed fears that still fuel it – from the fallout of a mishandled polio vaccine, to mercenary former doctor Andrew Wakefield's fully discredited autism "study". @npr.org:

The Anti-Vaccine Movement : Throughline
The alleged link between vaccines and autism was first published in 1998, in a since-retracted study in medical journal The Lancet. The claim has been repeatedly disproven: there is no evidence that v...

I will forever use the words “hocus focus” to describe how I get things done to NTs. #ADHD #hocusfocus
How can I a Wizard with adhd cast magic if I can't hocus focus.

This test contains the limit of human knowledge; the hardest questions we know the answers to. Once it can answer these, we’ll have to start giving it questions we don’t know the answer to.

That’s scary.

We knew Elon is autistic... We just didn't know he was Auschwitztic.

I know a lot of autistic people, and none of them have “accidentally”done Hitler salutes to massive crowds. Or, ever.

Between Elon and the Telepathy Tapes, can we give #autistic people a break? It’s hard enough out there without having to deal with the tsunami of recent nonsense.

It’s #IDPD (International Day of People with Disabilities). Today, I celebrated by discussing the “othering” that goes on in disability service.

By which I mean, lots of our team experience #disability, but they don’t acknowledge it because their barriers don’t feel significant compared to others.

Seriously dehumanizing: Researcher studies a drug’s effect on monkeys and then declares: “The most important implication of these findings to me is that vasopressin treatment may be useful in managing similar behavioral [traits] in people with autism.”

Vasopressin boosts sociability in solitary monkeys
Inhaling the hormone did not increase aggression in unsociable rhesus macaques and appears to help the animals remember faces and reciprocate friendly behaviors.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

A panelist who really nailed it during the conference is Dr. Rheanna Robinson. I think she was on three of the nine panels during the conference.

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last three days sharing frustrating news. Today, I need to point out the amazing work being done by the organizers and panelists, my employer, @nanaimoacl.bsky.social, and the disability community, who work tirelessly to address these inequities.

Current panel on post secondary accessibility.

I was in university part time recently. I have #ADHD, and had jumped through all the disability hoops.

I took an English class. When the midterm essay came, I asked if I could use my phone as a timer, because people with ADHD can’t perceive time well.
