I was reading a thread recently that discussed Mehmet II taking the title of Caesar of Rum and putting Ottoman moves against Italy and Holy R. Empire in terms of pursuing their claims as the legitimate continuation of Roman authority. Is there antthing to this? Or is it fanciful connecting of dots?
