I’m revisiting (and enjoying) his unique, varied catalog of works today, and encourage you to do the same. Or, for a similar result, listen to some music (any music) from the past and ponder your relationship to it.

Quickly sought out the infamous 1st recording of “Sinfonia” with Berio conducting the Swingle Singers & NY Phil, its LP jacket showing much greater wear than others in the Reed Library stacks, evidence of numerous trips off the shelves for bewildered repeat listens.

Republican leadership and their enablers have referred to these protests as "terrorists" who "hate America" - yet again proving that when it comes to the reality of what America is truly made of, they don't know what the hell they're talking about. (4/4)

We were encouraged by the waving & honking of well over half the folks driving past crowds assembled along Main Street, far outnumbering the handful of folks who gave the finger or shouted obscenities as they passed by. The energy was overwhelmingly positive, communal, & spirited in good faith.

It’s a heavily red area that voted 67% for the right-wing ticket in the '24 election. On Saturday, around 700 people in this small rural community came out to protest, peacefully and enthusiastically.

Oh, I could write a book on this 😂 but I have two go-to's that are reliable (for me) - the first book of Debussy preludes - specifically nos. 1, 4, and 6. [& Paul Jacobs on Nonesuch is my listening rec]. My ultimate mental 'palate-cleanser'
