As far as I can see, the New York Times has paid only minor attention to the emphatic centre-left win in Australia. Pity, because there is much to say about how a (relatively) progressive government can retain the support of working class and young male voters through its economic policies.

In many countries, the apparently unlawful attacks on federal employees would be met by a general strike. I don’t see that happening in the US; one less constraint on Trump/Musk.

A particularly good episode from these two with several powerful insights. I hope many Democrat commentators get over their allergy to the phrases “working class” and “working people”. And I hope here in Australia and in the UK we keep them “labour” in the Labo(u)r Parties.

Very enjoyable to make my Christmas purchases in an obviously flourishing bookshop (for Melbournians-Readings). Perhaps reviving bookshops are another sign of the deterioration of even non-political information on line (looking at you cooking sites). Old school browsing.
