A dark moment. For such senior figures to resign because of pressure from a liar like Trump etc is a clear victory for those who seek to undermine the BBC, which ironically was more right-wing biaised under Davie. The right will never be happy until they have made us even more extreme.

Why there is an assumption that the use of AI should be welcomed with open arms is to me counter-intuitive. Teachers should be at the forefront of questioning its use, considering its negatives as well as positives, not just using it because teachers are overworked!

The British King and govt have acted decisively re Andrew and Mandelsons involvement with Epstein. But all quiet the other side of the Atlantic re the US oligarchs etc who were involved...

If only governments were less feeble and actually performed their primary role: to protect its citizens. They would ban outlets like X from being able to operate in their countries.

If Trump ever wins the Nobel prize, the whole legacy of the award will be lost. Forever.

The sharks are circling around the remains of Gaza. The regeneration of the country into an estate agents dream is actually going to happen. The population and Hamas are too weak to stop it. Neither Arab nor progressive countries have the stomach to stop it. A truly awful indictment on our society.
October 8, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Yes but that message needs to be heeded by Labour too. Even more so after what Reform-light has done to the Tories.
October 6, 2025 at 3:42 PM
Dreadful. Instead of reflecting on why so many normally law-abiding people feel they have to demonstrate and risk arrest due to the immoral policy of this government re Gaza, the government takes us further down the route towards right-wing authoritarianism. Shame on them.

I've always wondered what's secret about it if we know what it is and does, and its members are in the public eye and clearly identifiable from their sunglasses, suits and earpieces...and talking out of the side of their mouths?
September 24, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Hear hear. Why is it our elected politicians are so quiet when foreign politicians - ie US ones because other real allies are more appropriate in their behaviour - or loudmouths feel they have the right to criticise this country? Grow a pair!

Ass???

The minister Kyle said today that the demo was an expression of disquiet with the economy. That is one thing it is not. It's an expression of xenophobia & disquiet with our previously tolerant diverse society. Labour under Starmer (silent today) is doing the country no favours avoiding the issue.
September 14, 2025 at 1:13 PM
Brexit let the xenophobic genie out of the bottle. Now it is almost flourishing, with this Labour government enabling it thru its mimicking of Reform. A dreadful trend. As a Londoner I am ashamed of the numbers who turned out for this event.
September 14, 2025 at 7:52 AM
Sadly these updates are no longer 'breaking news'. Which means no one who matters that can affect this dreadful situation takes any notice. How much longer can this genocide go on.
August 31, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Good. Ridiculous decision by the earlier court which could have led to many more right-wing councils going down the same route and denying people in need a roof over their heads. It would have also encouraged the extremists to target hotels even more.

If these people are filmed or seen by the police painting flags kn roads etc can we expect police to investigate and prosecute, as was done with PA when they painted a few planes? Surely their ideology - and we all know it's not just innocent patriotism - makes them more of a threat?
August 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM
Meatheads the lot of them.

1984 has turned into reality.
August 8, 2025 at 10:28 AM
Every day, this message appears. The only variation is the number of innocent people killed by Israeli government forces. But nothing else changes, certainly not the decision-making of most Western governments, including the UK, who continue to support the Israelis. Shame on them.
July 26, 2025 at 5:45 PM
Such hypocrisy. What about all the thousands of Gazans killed by the IDF who don't have US citizenship? No concern there by the US govt about criminal acts.
July 15, 2025 at 9:12 PM
The BBC's reporting of Gaza is woeful and superficial. It's controlled by it's right-wing management and government, which supports Israeli policy. I've given up watching it, as have many.
July 6, 2025 at 7:11 AM
How many people have PA murdered in the past 2 years? How many people have the IDF murdered in the same period? So PA is the terrorist organisation? What a crazy country we have become.
July 4, 2025 at 5:59 PM
All good, progressive policies. We don't know about them because the media is fixated elsewhere. But also, the Labour government's Comms strategy stinks: they should be pushing these out more, and ministers when interviewed should be referring to them.
