So, the guy blocked me for asking about a shady post. I'm guessing this is because earlier he made a post (now deleted) that is straight up Protocols of the Elders of Zion shit.

I have lived in New Orleans for 10 years and have apparently never seen a real stick bug until now.

I know that in the grand scheme of things this is a really minor complaint, but when a creator drops a bunch of shit into my subscription feed at once it kinda makes me not want to look at any of it.

Ethel Cain is not nearly the worst offender here, but it is very annoying nonetheless.

If men are complaining about unrealistic body images then I think they should consider what women actually want...

That sucks. I'm sorry, babe. If it helps at all, here is a picture of my kitten.

Got this baby girl two weeks ago. If I leave my laptop open she will open a terminal and type. She rolls around on my magic cards.

Today the vet says she has a penis. Transfem kitty confirmed.

Orchiectomy as soon as she's old enough.

In this house, we affirm.

Sometimes you find an old baby monitor in the trash and it becomes your most valuable possession.

I can't believe the zenith of human endeavor was to create a computer that fails when comparing two numbers.

I wonder how the tech bros are feeling about their plan to take over the government right now...

Oh. Huh.

Update: We are so back.

Context: She's at her grandfather's funeral.
April 4, 2025 at 6:45 PM
There are lots of examples of people using the phrase in this way, but I'll high-lite one more recent one that I find particularly gross.

Mike Pompeio in November, 2020 in full-on imperialist, manifest destiny mode.

However, that idea - that we had a sacred obligation to uphold our values at the risk of ruination - got lost when Ronald Reagan appropriated the phrase away from its original context in 1980, and came to represent American Exceptionalism.

Once again, Reagan fucked it up for everyone.

John F. Kennedy used the phrase correctly in 1961 as a call to civic duty. He was saying that it was a great privilege and a great responsibility to live in the "City on the Hill". He believed that God had blessed us with a sacred trust, and that betraying that trust would invite ruin.
April 4, 2025 at 4:32 AM
Actually, this is exactly what the phrase "City on Hill" means.

According to Matthew (5:14): "A city on a hill cannot be hid."

John Winthrop, in 1630, first used the phrase to describe the founding of Boston, warning that failure to live up to their values would invite judgment and scorn.
