I know the US has been going through a Marie Kondo-inspired bridge-burning campaign, but this one might be the most dangerous yet.

I shudder to think about the devastation caused by a pre-emptive strike from McKinsey.

I still think “cybercriminals” sounds pox, but “information super-highwaymen” would have inspired a whole new bunch of folk songs (were it not for the unfortunate gendering in the term).

In _the Equalizer_ S03E01 there is a bomb that can only be triggered by remote control radio signal. The "heroes" start searching for the baddie with the remote, saying it's the only was to stop it. But why wouldn't they just put the bomb in a Faraday cage?

Nothing has made me want to start using TikTok more than this US ban. What will the algorithm show the rest of the world and will they miss American content?

Very excited to go to this on Saturday night. Kabaddi had me mesmerised when I first saw it on TV in a bar in Chennai. Can't wait to see it live.

A ★★★★★ review of The Fabelmans (2022)
Now I don't know which is the best story about a boy who wants to be Steven Spielberg that features Michelle Williams. But this one has a less catchy theme song. (Sorry, John Williams.)

I love this idea from Dave Winer, and it should be pretty simple to implement: a user-created RSS feed of podcast episodes to subscribe to instead of entire podcasts. I wonder if it would also be possible to use timestamps and only curate specific parts of episodes.

Dave Winer, OG blogger, podcaster, developed first apps in many categories. Old enough to know better. It's even worse than it appears.

Every film or TV show that features Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" should pay me $1000.

As a society we should at least demand warnings at the start of all such content.

To the 11 of my closest followers, I share this new feature that makes it easier to find someone on bsky by typing.

Thanks @emilyliu.me for boosting @jacob.gold’s post into my eyes.
Now a URL like "https://mmasnick.bsky.social" will redirect to "https://bsky.app/profile/mmasnick.bsky.social" (and we'll make sure not to break this).

(We should have gotten around this earlier but for various reasons we did not...)

One of my best friends started following me after I texted him a link to my previous post. I also had not been following him.
Now I wonder if we'll still message each other thoughts like we were doing, or if we'll revert to just hoping the other one saw that thing we threw into the wind.

Human-centred design might destroy us — Sealfur
Human-centred design seems wonderful on paper. It’s helped lots of people and its benefits are so easy to see. Unfortunately, its popularity and wide-spread practice might lead to our extinction.
