Also some of these are quite expensive but they do sound significantly better.

In FG terms, it is used when participants do messy plays.

Ex: Both players repeatedly missed their confirms and combos. Their play was 'guda guda.'

I guess that makes it a different type of popularity contest unless there is some sort of guideline or knowledgeable panel. Regardless, I still find it superficial and nothing to get too worked up about.

If we wanted a proper "award," it would need to be judged by a qualified panel with measurable metrics. Until then, I would just be content on people originally outside of the community bringing more eyes to the genre.

tsuujyou = normal
waza = technique/skill
hi・satsu = deadly (literal = sure death)
chou = super(b)

Chouhi・satsuwaza is often shortened to “chouhi.”

tobidougu [noun]
飛び道具
Projectile

tobi = fly
dougu = tool

Example: That Dizzy’s "tobidougu" has some interesting properties.

If you want to describe someone doing these, add “sha (者)” to the end. So a tournament commentator would be “ji・kyousha” and the analyst would be “kaisetsusha.”

Western style sometimes combines these two but the roles are often split in Japanese commentary.

I agree. In a lot of my videos I end up writing, "just like everything else in life." Empathy, learning, habits, mental fortitude, etc. I feel like most strong players/TOs/content creators who stay at the top practice these very well and probably would have succeeded elsewhere if they chose to.
