Nice one! We had a good haul of boletes and chanterelles last week which a Czech friend turned into a delicious sour mushroom soup.

Our results ➡️ #arthropods play ‼️👍 roles in influencing vertebrate reproductive output and modifying #trophic structure on #islands. This and other native arthropods may be important for the ongoing #restoration and #recovery of degraded islands. #seabirds

We found that #centipedes consume lots of vertebrate animals 🦎🐟🐤. Centipede predation was the main source of BWPE chick mortality (11.1-19.6% /chicks /yr). Despite this pressure on reproduction, the large BWPE population is doing fine. #seabirds #foodwebs

We used a #stableisotope mixing model to estimate % contribution of #centipede prey to centipede tissues to infer #diet composition. 🧑‍🔬We spent many months in the field studying centipede #foraging and monitoring Black-winged Petrel (BWPE) #chicks 🐣
