At the heart of ocean conservation is education. 🦑🌊

This summer SEA is offering an undergraduate program exploring topics of ocean governance specifically looking at the effort to protect 30% of the Earth's ocean.

✨Creature Feature✨

These sparkly critters are an unusual species of copepod called Sea Sapphires (Genus Sapphrina). The iridescent colors are the result of alternating layers of hexagonal guanine crystals and cytoplasm in a specialized layer of cells just below the hard exoskeleton. 🌊 #MarineLife

Meet one of the newest member of SSV Robert C. Seamans, Cap. Cap is a paper nautilus pulled from one of the daily neuston tow deployments. Students on board the Seamans are participating in SEA's Oceans & Climate program, sailing from Fiji to Aotearoa New Zealand. 🦑🧪🌎

Proctor Academy's Ocean Classroom students have set sail north toward Lunenburg, Nova Scotia for their first leg of their voyage focusing on fisheries, wildlife, and the history of whaling.
