There are several other books in the same world too. The speaker of the dead series and a novella.

Have you read the Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison? I recommend it.

Back in my day . . .

But, yes, also Black Adder. And, of course, Mitchell and Webb's "Are we the baddies?"

Sorcerers are just magical by nature and are all about casting lots of a small group of spells.

Bards are skill-based support characters who get a small amount of magic too.

It looks more complex than it is for a player. What sort of magic-wielding character are you thinking of? Sorcerer and Warlock are probably the easiest.

Fair point. But if we can help, ask away!

Well, if I have a reference for the culture I am using such as "these are the French of the setting." I just look up appropriate names for them. For other Kindreds, I usually use things that seem appropriately descriptive for them 'translated' into English. Like the Sugarfoot Clan of Hobbits.

Talk to your players is my first piece of advice to new GMs. Work out together what sort of campaign you all want to see.

I think campaign reports are important but it is tough to get excited about writing them. The diary struck me as a fun idea, so I leaned into it. It also helps me to flesh out the distinct personalities of the twins.

Honestly, it was so long ago that I cannot remember.

But the best advice I can give you is to talk to your players and remind them that this is a joint effort. They help you with the rules and everyone gets to have fun.

Communication is king. Relax and let the game flow.

If you want it to be, yes.

I had a wild elf barbarian who was very fast and tactically minded. His role was to keep the enemy's focus while the rest of the group, almost all spellcasters, did their thing.

I have my world but there is a lot (and I mean a lot) of open space for players to add in their own ideas. I want the players to be interested and invested in the world after all.

Tell us about them.

Achievment unlocked.

But have you watched the best D&D movie of them all, Hawk the Slayer (1980)?

Wizard is, what it is, chaotic, messy, ridiculous, and fascinating. But worth watching once to see it in all its bizarre glory.

Why?

I thought 5 (Peter Davidson) made a good attempt at an ensemble at first with Adric, Nyssa, and Tegan.
