I only deeply played the first two gens anyway and dabbled here and there with the rest, so I can barely remember any names beyond those first games.

I usually picked my starters not for what they are but what they will evolve into, lol, I kinda dislike many early evos with a few rare exceptions, regardless of gen. Not a huge fan of charmander's design, but I like charmeleon's a lot, as an example.
