Squishy stuff alert!
Silverdrop made an advent calendar in 2016. Each Christmas since we have put messages in each day - I do even numbers, she odd. We have kept all the slips of paper and they are sewn into Christmas stockings.
A handmade advent calendar approximately 20 inches by 24. The image is of Santa's sleigh flying over a snowy village. Small scrolls of paper can be seen in the pockets for the 1st to 24th December.

That painting is the British battlecruiser HMS Hood, with HMS Prince of Wales in the background. Hood was sunk by the Nazi Bismarck. Itself later sunk by a Royal Navy squadron a few days later.
