Got an early bookseller copy of Star Wars: Trials of the Jedi by @charlessoule.bsky.social

Genuinely excited to read this! The High Republic has been a fun ride, even if it kinda overstayed its welcome.

Reading “Prequel” by Rachel Maddow, and it’s utterly fascinating, but a disturbing trend I’m seeing is that the gays LOVED Nazi aesthetic, which - yikes 🥲

Thoughts about #SunriseontheReaping:

1. “Songbirds and Snakes” justified its existence. It had an entire new cast of characters and expanded the world and its history. This one doesn’t do any of that.

2. I want a prequel about the collapse that led to Panem, or a post-HG sequel about its future.

Last night’s read: “When the Wolf Comes Home” by @natcassidy.bsky.social. Coming out next month and I can’t recommend it enough! It’s a subverted werewolf novel, an 80s homage with a twist, and as a cute little treat it also has something meaningful to say about fatherhood.

I’m sure it’s been flagged
But any attempt to change anything about my name or bio gives a “could not find record” message

This is a haunting and - though it feels crass to say this considering the subject matter - beautiful work about the imperial West’s failure to practice the values it pays lip service to. Powerful and necessary read which condemns without scolding, and implores despite the pain.

It’s the expected response though. Leftists were warned over and over again before the election - if you insist that a political party can never do enough to get your vote, that party will give up and turn in the opposite direction. What part of electoral incentives is so hard for them to grasp?

Inspired by @bmanuel.bsky.social ‘s “Hello Stranger”, I just finished John Rechy’s “City of Night” for the first time and it is absolutely magnificent! As a mournful aside, I’ve been feeling compelled to read more gay books of the recent past, learn about times that seem to really want to come back

I don’t usually do this, but I’m so horny for @bmanuel.bsky.social’s “Hello Stranger” that I just need to share my shelf-talker (included as a thread as well).

Cyclops.

Ultimate “doing the thing because the thing needs doing even if people think you’re a stick in the mud for doing the thing” energy that I resonate with.

Also, he’s deeply hot.

I was obsessed with the @gollancz.bsky.social SF Masterworks series back before they turned yellow for whatever reason, and Grass was always so appealing with that cover!

If I sit down and make a list, there would be a solid number of them, but off the top of my head definitely “The Buffalo Hunter” by @sgj.bsky.social

Reading “Tears of the Nameless” by @georgemann.bsky.social and am once again reminded of how much I just love existing in the Star Wars universe. Also, the sexual tension between Reath and Amadeo can power a small town.
