I see Donald Trump as more of a unethical, greedy version of Hungary's Vicktor Orban, and the Republican Party as our authoritarian version of the Fidez Party.

25. Liberals tend to put Trump voters at the center of American politics, because that’s what the Washington press corps does. But in doing so, liberals make themselves dependent on the continuation of certain eternal rules working in their favor, even when they no longer apply.

Of course he will. It's all he lives for.

20. You would think a white man who watched his Peruvian wife being perp-walked by ICE would regret his vote. That’s not the case.

"I don't regret the vote": Why most Trump voters stand by him, even as he ruins their live
It's not totally hopeless: Some swing voters who backed Trump may learn their lesson

Correct! Tossing Civil Rights and Human Rights under the proverbial bus should be a non-starter for the Democratic Party. You can champion this and economic development/opportunity at the same time. It's not about Left or Right, it's about Right vs. Wrong.

This is the million dollar question.

Correct! This is a great time for the Democratic Party to get back to the (using a football saying) blocking and tackling of electoral politics, and communications (especially in this age of misinformation and disinformation).

People will back a Party that Fights, Persuades, Educates, and best of all.. Listens!

Persuasion and education takes a long time, but eventually it will pay off. Democrats in the political world must get back to what they (historically) do best: Educate, Persuade and Fight for what is right. All three aren't mutually exclusive.

A lot of them HAVE given up on democracy. Fine with an authoritarian strongman; no different here than the voters who vote for Erdogan, Orban, Putin, and Netanyahu. They love the patina of electoral democracy without the multi-party/racial/ethnic/religious stuff that gets in the way of dominance.

I wonder if some people in this crowd are Republican voters who would vote for a Democratic candidate in the next election 🤔
