according to the internet, that was done intentionally during WWI(?) to keep the soldiers from immediately eating them out of their ration packages. But, then, after the war, all those Americans had grown accustomed to it. So they kept it like that.

I found this article very interesting. Though I agree the title was just clickbait. But did they change it? I don't see the unnecessary reference to "progressives" anymore.

on their website, however, they only say that they report on corp donations. But many companies donate to both sides, so that metric might not tell you much.

is there an app that also reports on things like union-support, DEI and political activity?

carbon-fiber would melt -- and evaporate -- more easily. However, most kid bikes are not made with expensive materials like that. I lived through the big wildfires in 1990 (91?) and I saw cars that had melted in their driveway. So these fires really do get that hot...
