My brother and I summited Washington on the most glorious August day a number of summers ago (no clouds, no wind) but we were prepared when we went. Our mom had a high school classmate die on the mountain and she thoroughly warned us.

Mainer here. Outsiders need to understand that we treat politicians like comfort foods. We tend to prefer ones we know and trust and are hesitant to venture outside our comfort zone. Mills and Collins are in the comfort zone. Platner was always outside it and now won’t be added to it.

LL bean employee here, the company doesn’t make any political donations and has kept all of its DEI policies. A now deceased member of the family who owns the company and who never worked for it was involved in Maine’s conservative politics and falsely gave that impression.

Full disclosure I’m an employee. The company doesn’t do political donations of any sort (its other donations are very liberal leaning). It’s a family owned business and one of them, who wasn’t involved with the day to day business was a Trumper. She died a couple of years ago and the rumor won’t die

Probably has something to do with DHS telling the town’s police department that he was authorized to work when they checked. It means there are probably serious problems with the E-Verify system and they want to hide it.

All the Democrats are jumping in the Governor’s race instead. Not one of the more prominent options has declared for the Senate race. I think some of this is worry that Mills (who is term limited) might be persuaded to run.

This reminds me of the spree killing that happened in Nova Scotia, Canada not too many years ago. He had used police vehicles and paraphernalia. It helped him avoid detection and escape as long as he did.

I really missing the live sports coverage too. Make it easy to follow what is happening in specific games. Basic live scores and people talking about the event.

As a former (bad) Maine high school athlete, few athletes in the state are truly going to receive college scholarships. Our small population and schools are rarely super competitive and playing on teams is more about participation and fun than a future in sports. Cooper Flagg is an exception.
