Interesting that many of the people who are normally apoplectic at the mere suggestions that the Notwithstanding Clause might be used are conspicuously silent today as a bunch of premiers and MPs call for the federal government to use it

This is the sort of thing that ought to end governments and keep the party that let it happen out of power for decades

Island and Fraser regions have seen the biggest spikes and even that doesnt seem to shake BCers or the government out of their complacency

Sounds like what someone planning to attack Britain would say

I remember when random violent attacks by someone with a long record who was out on bail for a recent violent crime weren't a regular occurrence.

When is the government going to do the right thing and change the bail laws?

This post by a senator is causing a fair bit of controversy on the other site. But how does it make sense for the entire population of a newly independent country to also be citizens of the country they just separated from?

Americans didn't remain Birtish subjects after independence.

So in addition to being an unrepentant NIMBY, Don Davies was too clueless to read a single poll during the election campaign.

I really don't see why the Liberals should step in to save the NDP from their own ineptitude.

Though to the Liberals (limited) credit, they do recognize they need to tighten things up but they're doing it on such a narrow set of crimes that it's a little baffling and won't cover a case like this

Ford is wrong to take out the bike lanes, but inisting there is a charter right to bike lanes is absurd.

Those decisions properly rest with democratically accounted elected officials, not judges.
