More upcoming contra music and dance: Contra Jam Session (music, not dance) - Wednesday, June 4, 2025; 7-9:30 pm - San Diego International Folk Dance Club hosts another opportunity to play some tunes together and discuss making music for contra dances. Join us at the Balboa Park Club. Contra Dance - Saturday, June 7, 2025; 7:30-10 pm (beginners' lesson at 7 pm) - San Diego Folk Heritage's contra dance at the Dorothea Laub Dance Place in Liberty Station will feature Ellie Konitshek calling to music by the Cactus Lickers - Jim Anderson (guitar), Charlie Van Tassel (banjo), Jonathan Hallemeier (fiddle), and Peter Sharpe (mandolin). Contra Dance - Wednesday, June 18, 2025; 7-9:30 pm - San Diego International Folk Dance contra dance at the Balboa Park Club. (Joe Payne, Dan Sankey, and Given Harrison ) No prior experience is needed, nor do you need to bring a partner. Calling will be gender-free. Admission is $5. This dance is sponsored by the San Diego International Folk Dancers, San Diego Folk Heritage, International Dance Association San Diego County and San Diego City Parks & Recreation.
