That site had been planned for redevelopment for well over a decade before the Dodgers were part of the discussion. Hell, it was even once considered as a site for Disneyland.

There is so much more nuance and history than to just reduce it down to "Dodgers (or LA) kicked out and destroyed the Chavez Ravine and surrounding area to make way for the stadium".

Agreed. And it's not even all of DTLA. It's a few blocks on or around the plaza and Union Station. Someone hanging out at Pershing Square could be entirely unaware of the events.
