I'm doing a rare Saturday night stream tomorrow, but what should I play? Should I finish my Sonic Dream-Cube Advance marathon and play Sonic 4, or should I kick off a whole new Mario marathon with Super Mario Bros and Lost Levels! What do you think? Let me know!

This is one of the longer Professor Oak challenges I've done, taking over 408 hours in game and over 8 months from beginning to end, with almost 80 days of inaction due to my terrible luck with the Poke Pelago spawns. This challenge still wasn't as bad as the Black 2 one, but still frustrating.

And with that, the Ultra Moon Professor Oak challenge is completed! I thought it would be a nice bookend to make my final capture be Tapu Koko, seeing as the story more or less began with him.
November 10, 2025 at 4:54 AM
With Team Rainbow Rocket defeated and Porygon, Electrode and Voltron collected, I'm down to the final four Pokemon of the challenge! I thought it would be nice to end this with facing the four Tapus.

One of the Pokemon I need to get before I can finish the challenge is at the end of the Team Rainbow Rocket storyline. This was such a cool idea, bringing back all the villains from the previous gens. Can you imagine what we'd get now though? A united front of Teams Skull, Yell and Star! XD

I'm almost done! There's only a few wild Pokemon left to catch, including the Tapus. Then it's just a matter of finishing the evolving and breeding. Tomorrow could very well be the end of this challenge!

It's a little disappointing that in both of the Zygarde fights I've done this last month that neither of them have a fetch quest to gather all the Zygarde cells.

Professor Oak challenge progress, day 220: it's post-game time, let's gooooo!
November 8, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Okay Canada, what the hell? I thought we had an agreement. I stop calling you, "Not Australia," and you stop doing... whatever this nonsense is...
November 8, 2025 at 4:26 PM
There are 39 Pokemon remaining in the post game that I'll need to catch to finally finish this challenge, but that's a tomorrow problem. I am le tired.
November 8, 2025 at 6:23 AM
Piece of cake. :)
November 8, 2025 at 6:20 AM
Professor Oak challenge progress, day 219: That's it! I have now caught every single Pokemon possible before facing the Pokemon League in Ultra Moon! So we know what comes next...
November 8, 2025 at 5:16 AM
I picked up Necrozma on my way up the mountain and fused him with Nebby to technically add a seventh Pokemon to my party. I laugh at established Pokemon rules!
November 7, 2025 at 6:40 AM
I'm closing in on the end of the challenge now! My next goal is to get to the Pokemon League, and to catch all these on the way!
November 7, 2025 at 5:26 AM
And with that, the island challenge is complete! ...except not. :P
November 7, 2025 at 5:20 AM
...well, I guess I can head straight to the grand trial without having to catch any other Pokemon!
November 7, 2025 at 4:53 AM
After revisiting all of the other captains I was FINALLY able to get Nebby for my very own. After that I defeated Mina's trial, so now there's only one stop left on the Island Challenge: Hapu's Grand Trial!
November 7, 2025 at 4:49 AM
Professor Oak challenge progress, day 218: I got a late start tonight because I wanted to get my Diancie and Delphoxite in Legends ZA, but I'm back at it and have begun Mina's trial!
November 7, 2025 at 2:16 AM
I also enjoy the details they went to in giving all of the ultra beasts their own unique worlds. Guzzlord's is particular bleak - there's nothing left but ruins and a voracious monster whose appetite cannot be stopped.
November 6, 2025 at 7:16 AM
Professor Oak challenge progress, day 217: After finding out that I can change the controls for the ultra warp ride to the circle pad rather than motion controls, I found it much easier to get where I needed. So here it is - all the Pokemon you can catch and breed from the ultra wormholes!
November 6, 2025 at 7:16 AM
That said, I did knock a few more legendaries off my list today as well as hatch some more eggs. It's slow progress, but I'll happily take that over the ZERO progress I was making the last two plus months.
November 5, 2025 at 6:27 AM
Professor Oak challenge progress, day 216: getting to the right portals to find the legendaries is HARD. I often don't last long enough to find a strong enough portal, and when I do, by that point I've often been in ultra space so long that I can barely control Lunala any more and fly past.
November 5, 2025 at 6:25 AM
Also, I managed to catch Mewtwo in a single quick ball without a fight. After I stopped laughing my arse off, I decided to give him a name just to rub that humiliation in further. :P
November 4, 2025 at 5:58 AM
Professor Oak challenge progress, day 215: many, many trips into ultra space (and then the day care centre followed by Poke Pelago's sauna have resulted in lots of new catches for me. I still have some more breeding to do, but other than that I only have legendaries left. ...and Guzzlord.
November 4, 2025 at 5:56 AM
Professor Oak challenge progress, day 214: I've managed to catch a respectable number of regular Pokemon, legendaries, and ultra beasts. The legendaries are proving to be the hardest to get to, as I struggle to stay in the ultra wormholes long enough to find the exit I need.
