actually I guess "meiji era" is vague and includes the 1890s but like.. I feel like pla is definitely 1870s due to the relative lack of development.

also one time I was reading a fanfic and it mentioned that volo had a zipper on his clothes but zippers were in fact not invented in the 1870s (they were first patented in the 1890s and didnt come into widespread use until the early 20th century) and it took me right out of it. bc im annoying ☝️🤓

and yeah like these characters are isolated and trains are probably unfamiliar to most of them but do you expect me to believe that laventon from galar (pokemon uk) doesnt know what a train is

idk I keep seeing fanart of all these characters being really confused by ingos train references and it's very endearing but the game takes place at a time when japan would have been developing it's first railway projects
