Our department rarely has regular faculty meetings, but it was great to hang with other WVU political scientists (here, at Ojo de Agua) in Mendoza over the last several days.

Who I’ll be pulling for tonight (as a big fan of Igby and Roman Roy, and of A Real Pain, I’ll hardly be sad to see Culkin win - but for me Pearce’s may have been the performance of the year).

Marianne Jean-Baptiste in Hard Truths, just, wow. An epic performance, likely superior to whatever will win the Oscar in March. And don’t sleep on Michele Austin.

Usually there are several movies I rewatch x number of times across a year, but in ‘24, there were only two, one new and one from ‘23. Probably says something about my headspace, cinematic and otherwise, but also they’re excellent.

My Wrapped 2024 - same top 2 bands as last year (and 3rd year in a row with Nation of Language as my No. 1). As to my song 3, let’s just say that I liked All of Us Strangers a lot. As to my No. 1 song, well of course it’s that.
