🔹 Reinforce the 2005 UNESCO Convention, especially in the face of challenges posed by AI, algorithm-driven platforms, and global entertainment conglomerates.
🔹 Defend the right to control IP, so that creative and economic value benefits domestic creators and sustains independent sectors worldwide.

We call on all governments to:

🔹 Safeguard public funding & cultural policy that enable local storytelling and ensure that independent productions reach audiences.
🔹 Reject political, legal and economic moves that threaten cultural sovereignty and the accessibility of diverse cultural expressions.

🔹 Transparency obligations are essential, creators must know when and how their works are used to train AI.

🔹 There must be clear, enforceable tools for rightsholders to defend their rights.

🔹 A democratic debate is needed on the impact of GenAI on creators’ moral rights & cultural diversity.

🇪🇸 🇵🇹 We strongly support the call by Spain and Portugal to discuss the value of the cultural and creative sectors in AI development. Our key messages:

🔹 The AI Code of Practice must reflect the fundamental principles of the AI Act and protect copyright and related rights.

💡Nominated films, often independent co-productions, benefit from high-profile promotion, media exposure, and distribution beyond national borders.

💡This visibility opens doors to wider audiences, new funding opportunities, and international recognition.
