Some of the youth have found shoegaze, and I'm here for it. Wisp's current tour finished in KC last night at a sold-out recordBar, with more than a few minors out late (for a school night), dragging along a parent. The kids are alright.

I was feeling meh, as tends to happen, but Shonen Knife at the recordBar made me happy for a while. It had been 7 years since their last KC show, but I last saw them on Christmas Eve 2022 in Tokyo.

I first saw the Wedding Present on March 8, 1991, at 7th St Entry in Minneapolis. Their most recent album was Bizarro, and I loved it. Somehow it's 34 years later, and I went back to MN yesterday for the Bizarro 35th Anniversary tour. The current lineup was fantastic! An epic show.

I missed the Hokusai exhibit in KC a couple of months back. Partly to atone for that, I went to an "immersive" Hokusai exhibit in Tokyo today, where his artwork was presented with animations and sensory effects from lights, music, floor vibrations, and blowing fans. Kinda cool, but not amazing.

For my third consecutive night in a Tokyo basement, I went to Golden Egg Live House and Bar in Shinjuku, where I saw the band Freefunk. I first encountered them on my 2018 Tokyo visit. I caught them again in 2022, and I was happy to find that they had a gig I could attend on this trip, too.
