Rambling, ranting, junkyard for things that don't have a place for the main feed.
Instead Bluesky prioritizes giving blue checkmarks to people who proudly stand on the platform of wanting all my friends dead, making moderation an individual problem, folds immediately to government pressures, and bends the knee to Mastercard

No principles, just profit- and rent-seeking ghouls

Which isn't a surprise at all, people who are backed by VC money and creatively bankrupt can only trace over the old lines and jingle keys as capitalism demands an infinite amount of more

Still, I'd like to have some basic features that are available elsewhere, like notification filtering

Like if you really think Bluesky, the VC-backed corporation, is going to prioritize and protect their userbase and artistic integrity over their next funding round, the whims of government agencies around the world, or however Mastercard is feeling today, you have made a mistake.

ActivityPub / Mastodon, for its various faults and occasionally overbearing social rules, at least gives you control over making a descriptive warning.

Bluesky doesn't have that because everything needs to be in advertiser-friendly boxes that they can throw out at a moment's notice.

There is so much basic functionality that is completely falling apart on Twitch, it's absurd

Accidental rant over, I'd like them to live up to the initial pitch of AT Protocol as a protocol, not a single app/website, but that's clearly never going to happen, not when it's built on the back of VC money and a promise of profitability

I give it a year, at best, before VC money running out and *other pressures* cause Discover and other algorithms to be shoved into feeds in general and fulfill the Twitter 2 prophecy
Videos don't even load correctly right now and they're already pushing those to compete with other sites

It's so weird, the rationale makes no sense to me.

Unless you've got a fresh account following nobody, you have to opt in to view it, so people see what the algorithm serves up and get mad at the poster as though it's their fault

Have people just willingly dis-empowered themselves that much?

Nope, about what I figured. Likely too many sources for the old graphics card and CPU to handle.

Soooo... that's why I'm at a bit of a loss as to why these relatively simple things suddenly stopped working with the update.
I do a lot of tinkering with OBS overlays and automations via SAMMI so I'm used to fixing what I broke. This was noticeable because it seems related to the version of Core.

The only differences in any other Alpha Filter command that triggers during the same scene are the delay (7000ms compared to 0ms / 6500ms for the others).
The automation is part of my intro, and presses a separate button to "unlock" chat.
Both of these work fine when I roll back to 2024.4.0.

There's two key issues that started with 2025.1.0, and I haven't been able to pinpoint the cause; one is that a Motion: Alpha Filter doesn't kick in during a specific scene, and another is that an automated button I use to "lock/unlock" chat (emote only, follow for X days, etc.) fails to trigger.

Hey, thanks for reaching out! I realize I was more hostile than I needed to be in my initial moments of frustration and let it get the best of me. I'm a bit embarrassed about that, and don't want to downplay the work you and the rest of the SAMMI team do. It's pretty much the backbone of my streams.

My PC has no sound output from Windows right now. Why? Who knows! It just does this now! Reboot, idiot

Hope you don't click on the weird search bar to copy things in Windows Explorer, because clicking back into that window will trigger a privacy nightmare drop-down you can't turn off. Yay!

They released a 2025.1.1 update that fixed the prior 2025.1.0 update ~18 hours later, citing fixes to "Wait for Timeout" commands, but I think there's other things that were busted
