this is probably hopelessly idealist but I think that if you introduce a tax you have to be prepared to make sure people pay the right amount. Otherwise even fairly good willed people start feeling like mugs for paying the right amount while others are blatantly not doing so

Mostly practical from what I have seen - ie how do you calculate wealth? How do you deal with overseas wealth? How do you stop people hiding wealth? i have seen fairness arguments but they seem to focus on edge cases

Haha, yes - 2 reasons for not using bike lanes which don't get mentioned much: "I missed the start and now I can't get into it" and "I had no confidence I'd be able to get out of it when I needed to"

This lot aren't the most sympathetic victims, but there more should be done to prevent people from selling dodgy tax schemes and making the promoters liable when they fail
