Weather continues to be superb for time of year (mostly) and today we went to Cocklawburn beach and walked south towards Lindisfarne (Holy Island).

Amnesty hits out at Starmer over Gaza peace plan tweets

MNESTY hit out at Keir Starmer over two separate posts he has made on Twitter/& regarding a
peace plan for Gaza.
The Prime Minister praised Donald Trump for his role in bringing the recent ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, with hopes now for a sustained peace and an end to the genocide in Gaza.
Key countries agreed to the US president's peace plan in Sharm El Sheikh on Monday. "President Trump, this is your achievement," Starmer said on Twitter/X yesterday in reaction.
"I thank you for your tireless efforts to deliver this moment. The UK stands ready to support a full implementation of the peace plan."
But humanitarian charity Amnesty reacted by resharing a tweet from Starmer in January 2020, when he was running to be Labour leader.
At the time, Trump - during his first term - had announced a peace plan for Israel and Palestine called:
Peace to Prosperity: A Vision to Improve the Lives of the Palestinian and Israeli People.
But it was rejected by both West Bank settlers for envisaging a Palestinian state and by Palestinian leaders for being too biased towards

Donald Macaskill, the chief executive of Scottish Care, said that the
"devil will be in the detail" but added in comment to LBC that it was also a
"positive move".
It came after former home secretary Yvette Cooper announced the
UK Government is going to close the care worker visa route for overseas recruitment.
That announcement in July led to fears - particularly in Scotland - for the care sector, given its reliance on international workers.
In his keynote address to SNP conference in Aberdeen on Monday, the First Minister, however, said he will step in and that "hundreds of dedicated workers" will be able to work immediately.
Specifically, Swinney said the Scottish Government will invest £500,000 to fund a tailored offer to help international social care workers who

"I can announce today that the Scottish Government is going to step in. We will sponsor these skilled staff so they can work, pay tax and help keep Scotland's care homes running.
