Random musings of a compulsive city breaker and general busy body around his home city.
There’s lots more to do to be sure. The failure of the city council’s planned public realm scheme is a real shame. But the recent changes do create pedestrian space and are at least a step towards long term improvements.

On a sunny day like today, the square finally feels like it’s developing into a space for people to live in and enjoy.

✅New pedestrian spaces
✅New connections and the regeneration of once empty streets like Mill Street
✅Restoration of heritage features such as St Luke’s Church and 10 Mill Street

10 years of change at #Newmarket in Dublin 8.

The transformation of the square from a largely-overlooked car park surrounded by decaying industrial spaces & warehouses into a district with residents, businesses, city visitors & people just enjoying the sunshine and space has been quite remarkable🧵

Quick potter in Fairview today. I have to say I think C2CC will completely revitalise Fairview. You can see new arrivals already (eg new tenant for Edges). As pavements widen and traffic is pushed back, trees added, the chances for more life on those footpaths shoots up.
