Today, the second Monday of October, we celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day by recognizing that the removal of indigenous people from their land was set in motion by the use of manipulation and false promises. We use this nationally recognized holiday to celebrate the perseverance of our ancestors.

We need to use vocabulary to our benefit. Words matter, and learning how to recognize them being used against you is the first step in learning how to use them to resist.

I question the integrity of your love when you tell me you love me and act like you love me, but when I turn away, you're voting against my rights to bodily autonomy. Imagine being so disillusioned that you believe loving me only in practice and not in respect is genuine love.

Antifa, much like incel, is the shortened descriptive label meant to move away from the intent of the initial label. Of course, antifa is a shortened way of identifying someone who is anti fascist just as incel is a shortened way of identifying someone who is involuntarily celibate.

I fully understand that the constitution of the United States was made with the white colonizer in mind because that's who wrote it. However, as it sets the standard for what qualifies as a human right, it includes all people. Including non-white non-colonizers, even if unintentionally.

Yes, the government is corrupt, and as a country, we are spiraling. The fact that you can say that openly without facing legal repercussions is an indication that we are not too far gone to fight for a better system. Your voice is still able to be heard, so use it. It's your choice to stay silent.

Words have always been weapons. Propaganda has always run rampant in the US. It's up to you as a voter to call into question the intent of the words used in our media. If you're one smear campaign away from voting for a person rather than their policies, you're proof that propaganda works.

Words have meaning. Use the words you mean instead of words that make marginalized groups of people look like threats. Own a dictionary. Use the access you have to free knowledge to your advantage. We live in a smartphone society. We have no excuse for being uninformed of hate tactics and speech.

There are many ways to access sex offenders' personal information in the United States. We have public registries that are frequently updated with names, addresses, full view pictures of perpetrator faces, and the exact details of the crimes they have been convicted of. Why entertain exceptions?
