I needed a place to put photos of my cats. Sometimes I do stuff too
Prick implies some kind of maliciousness, I think. Dick is just a one syllable way to say asshole

(The horrors are persisting so I’m persisting with cat photos)

Libro.fm has the same subscription type service, lets you pick a local bookstore to support, and has most audiobooks I’ve wanted to listen to in the last year if that helps! (I think they’re a little pricier per month than Audible though unfortunately)

If China made use of US TikTok data, my guess is that it would mostly be for OSINT purposes, which is something that you can do on Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media platform that allows people to post pictures and yell about things, so it’s not more dangerous than anything else online

Now that US TikTok data is stored stateside (and owned/managed by an Oracle offshoot), I’m deeply ambivalent about China’s ability to access it tbh. Also bluntly they don’t need it. Their APTs have had embarrassingly good luck with hacking US companies so they’ve got reams of our data to utilize

Any company having that much data on you and about you is a massive security risk to you, regardless of whether or not an adversarial government is also seeing it. It’s also just flat out a breach of your privacy, which was more my overall point about why I wanted Congress to deal with all the apps

Yeah the first iteration of it was basically a rootkit. I don’t know how much better the current version is but it’s definitely still hoovering up your data to feed its algorithm. I wish they’d actually addressed the data security issues present in all apps instead of just flailing about this one
