Birding mainly in Yorkshire and north Nottinghamshire #phonescoping #nocmig #patchbirding #gulls
It was nice to see a couple of Spot Reds at Potteric Carr this morning. Pity they were flushed by a marsh harrier. #patchbirding #yorkshirebirding

I'm finding the #chirpity app great for quickly processing #nocmig recordings. Had to laugh this morning when it identified me bringing in the recorder as a Bearded Tit 🤣 @chirpity-nocmig.bsky.social

No way!

Very quiet day at Southfield Res. A couple of Hobbies went south, a Common Sand and 200+ hirundines were the highlights.

Potteric Carr: what it lacks in birds it makes up for in chips 😋

Mine was just like this Mirador 20-45x60

It looks like that’s a birdfair special offer which has now ended. The £24 is for 1st year then its 79.99. Looks like I’m staying with Birdguides

A most unexpected European Nightjar recorded over the garden last night. I don't live close to a breeding site so maybe its a migrant. #ukbirding #nocmig

will call in at Doncaster Lakeside en route

It still amazes me what flies over my suburban garden in Doncaster. A nice Quail last night #nocmig

Quail over the house last night doing the 'mau-wau' call. Only my 2nd in 5 years of #nocmig #yorkshirebirding

I wasn't expecting to see much at Spurn last week with northerlies every day but ended up seeing 2 Cranes, Red-backed-shrike, Black Brant, Eastern Subalpine Warbler, Golden Oriole, Firecrest, Red-backed Shrike and Purple Sandpiper #SpurnBirds #YorkshireBirding

Not much of a call but a #nocmig garden tick nonetheless. Spotted Flycatcher #yorkshirebirding

They are probably fairly common down south but I was chuffed to bits to get this while out for a walk in the South Downs on a non-birding weekend away. The recording has me swearing quite a bit so I’ve just posted a screenshot #ukbirding

Female Wheatear taking advantage of a just ploughed field at Parson’s Carr (iPort). Unfortunately several white and yellow wags were too distant to phonescope #YorkshireBirding

Not a bad day at the local patches. Unexpected Iceland Gull at Potteric Carr and Goosander at Parson's Carr (fka iPort Lakes). Also picked up my first Whitethroat, Sedge and Reed Warblers of the year #YorkshireBirding #phonescoped
April 13, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Numerous lunchtime visits to the iPort have finally paid off. Fortunately these 3 Little Gulls sat on the water most of the time so I could phonescope them. #YorkshireBirding #LowCarbonBirding

Agreed!

Apart from getting an amazing 6 groups of scoters last night, these Whoopers were so low you can hear the wingbeats #nocmig #yorkshirebirding
March 25, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Whoopers have been taking advantage of the fine weather and piling through the Doncaster area since the early hours of the morning. These were within walking distance of home. #LowCarbonBirding #YorkshireBirding #UKBirding

Got my first #NocMig Common Scoters of the year last night at 21:43 and 01:04. Also @chirpity-nocmig.bsky.social picked out some Wigeon at 03:17 buried in the dawn chorus that I would never have picked up by eye in Audacity. #UKBirding
March 14, 2025 at 10:46 AM
Wow thanks for this. Its a bit of a game changer. I reviewed last night's recording with Audacity and then tried Chirpity. Its easy to use and fast.

A group of Redwings were nice to see during my lunchbreak, including one with a bit of a weedy supercilium #NikonP900 #YorkshireBirding

One’s been at Doncaster Lakeside all winter with the Mutes. Gratefully receiving bread from the public. And it can fly. Its quite aggressive towards the Mutes. 📷 taken with phone.

Celebrating hearing a Willow Tit calling at Potteric Carr this morning, the first I’ve had here in well over a year. Considering it used to be a stronghold for the species it’s depressing #ukbirding #yorkshirebirding @richardkbroughton.bsky.social
