I've never tried a series. I have multiple manuscripts set in the same fictional place, but they don't go together or share characters. I also have a sequel to one ms in mind, if the first one ever sells. #kidlitchat

Total sense. I definitely don't hate it. Maybe that's what I should call my "summary sketch thing." #kidlitchat

As I say in almost every presentation: Your goal, your rules. And I change my rules all the time. There is no "right." #kidlitchat

"Puke sheet"! I love that. #kidlitchat

The summary I start with is much too sketchy to call a zero draft, or even an outline, really. #kidlitchat

I've done that, sort of, with stickies on my 3x5 whiteboad, divided into acts. I don't always do it, but have when I felt like I needed to, later in the revision process. #kidlitchat

I think you're right. I usually don't worry about beats or really much of anything until I've turned my messy zero draft into something more solid, with some revision cycles. #kidlitchat

I also start with a loose outline, more like a few paragraphs of summary, with some info about characters, setting, and key plot point. Then I start adding scenes to fill in the sketch, usually not in order. Just whichever scenes I want to explore first, wherever they fall in the story. #kidlitchat

I'm sad every time it keeps away from here. But I help run it, so I have to be there.

Ours is definitely kidlit-oriented. Only problem is, it's usually on a Tuesday and conflicts with #kidlitchat (and keeps me away from here, sadly), though it's sometimes on Thursday.

Right! And if they are kidlit-oriented, they're also usually helpful for non-kidlit writers. #kidlitchat

I like the way you think, @vbartles.com! And oatmeal is even healthier with a little fruit, and maybe some nuts for variety if so desired. #kidlitchat

Oatmeal raisin is easily my favorite cookie! In fact, they would probably occupy about 7 spots in my top ten cookie list. #kidlitchat

IG has never grabbed me. I have an account but haven't been on in ages. I haven't found the appeal of reels for me. #kidlitchat

I have my #wifyr conference community, which is positive and supportive. So many writing communities have come and gone, but that one is always there, and actually growing. #kidlitchat

Yes. I miss it when I have other obligations. Like I probably will next Tuesday #kidlitchat

I'm in a few Discord groups, but they all seem to be fizzling out. #Kidlitchat
