I can still remember a handful of numbers from my youth also (home, several friends, first girlfriend's number before I got a mobile).

Watched it again recently, and with my 17 yo as his first time. Such a solid movie.

What I wanted to do with this story was try my hand at a more humorous piece - I found I was entertaining myself as I wrote it, but could I entertain someone else with the writing? (It seems so! The publisher loved it, and I've had some other nice feedback.)

There were still a few kinks to sort out - implying what kind of animals the characters were without outright saying what they were, as my initial drafts had - 'boarish', 'doggish', etc. (The main character is a Shiba Inu.)

I love horror, particularly gothic horror (or dark or gothic fantasy - one of my favourite and influential RPGs is the Ravenloft setting for D&D).

The first short story, 'The Stranger in the Attic' is set in the world of Valrona, and is a bit of a gothic horror story - this is one of my comfort zones.

It was really nice to have someone believe that I could do it, and who would pay me to write a short story - this was probably the kick up the arse I needed. I worked hard on these stories.

I get this often with my writing! And the more distance between writing and reading it later, the better.

Be brave, writer, be brave! Best of luck!

I jumped off a while back at the first hints of AI they were implementing. (Kind of disappointing, since I was enjoying going through one language with my daughter at the time together.)
