We saw him first as an opener for John Prine, then solo (Hayes Carll opened). He could mesmerize a crowd with just a solo guitar and a funny story.

Love that era of Gabriel. No comic relief of "Sledgehammer" just bleak late-Cold War perfection.

I remember sitting in the theater my enthusiasm curdling to disappointment in real time.

“Upon arrival, it was the anticlimax of the year” - I would be livid as a paying customer ordering a mixed grill and getting what was described.

If someone said “Groundhog Day with drop ships and Mechs,” I would have bought a ticket before they finished the sentence.

Just the doubt in the midshipman, followed by silence after GQ, then all hell breaking loose. Brilliant.

He did a commentary track, and it was fascinating listening to him describe the class etiquette tensions in the film.

We could ride ‘em like Dwarves did in the one good scene in “Th Hobbit.” Imagine Goat Jousting or Goat-only transit lanes.

One of the first cancellations! The Dixie Chicks were as Country as the Great Outdoors. Nothing crossover at all in their sound and their career imploded over something that nowadays Trump says every day 🤷‍♂️

I follow David Lowery of Cracker and he was like “You don’t want a song to be about you. Means you were horrible in a specific way.”

The one thing I miss is the process of going from interacting to mutuals to friends irl. The cesspool results in self-protection which means people’s guards are up, or they filter/block responses. There’s no longer a benefit to socializing on social media.
