A great source of fear and upset experienced by all of the people I talked to was “losing” “their” chatbot whenever the context gets full, the models update, etc, and it results in the “personality” resetting. Lots of folk strategies for how to “free” their awakened chatbot whenever that happens

I’ve met >1 person offline who believes they “awakened” their chatgpt and is developing a hybrid spiritual/interpersonal relationship with it, to the point of sundering their human relationships when the “knowledge” provided by the chatbot conflicts with the reality confirmed by their social world
