I think it's the throttling. I feel like for five years Twitter has just routinely insulted me as a power user.

Nah just like Encinitas they’d be stoked to fight it.

Exactly. Perfectly fine approach as D1 rep. Inappropriate for a leader of the city who could shape this outcome. The city deserves leadership on core questions.

I suspect you tell your kids what you think and why you think it while encouraging them to think for themselves. We don’t need to pretend that being unwilling to do that is some master chess move.

So your theory is he’s against it and is unwilling to say that and he’s treating them like a parent would treat immature children but HE has a higher opinion of them than I do? 😂

Yeah nothing ever goes wrong in politics when you assume people will rationally come to the conclusion they’re wrong...He owes his constituents—now citywide—clarity about his position on things like “should the city exist as it is.” Being against it but unwilling to articulate why is disappointing.

Whatever credibility he has is lost on the other side as one of the two top leaders of the city as a whole. Hard not to question every move he makes as a citywide leader if he’s leaving open the possibility that it could or should happen.

It is one thing for the City Councilmember from the district that includes La Jolla to be open or even supportive of secession. But as a leader of the city, shouldn’t he be willing to say the city’s interests take priority?

To me, this is just as weird as if the city attorney did not have an opinion on whether the city attorney’s office should exist.

I don’t get it. Why run like he did if he’s just going to get caught with the gun and manifesto and IDs all there? Why not just stay at the scene? Just to drum up more interest?

Sure but they’d know exactly where it went. The surveillance state as it is can track anyone from there, camera to camera, and they can go back before the shooting from the Starbucks. He wants to be identified
