New word of the day: "Clanker lover." Acquired from r/MyBoyfriendIsAI but already in the Urban Dictionary.

I know, I know, only the old people remember this. But yeah, this is what Trump was seen as in 1989.

I'd hate to imagine him alive today, age 63, either a Z loyalist or in exile somewhere.

I think this is a bad take. You can read the actual paper at advait.org/files/sarkar... and see that it includes the passage below.

My take is much, much harsher than Sarkar's: AI-hate is the "socialism of fools" for the internet age, a legitimate rage against the wrong damn machine.
July 22, 2025 at 10:54 AM
I'm going to be the contrarian asshole this time and say I like this paper and I think it's main point is necessary and valid. Y'all can hate on it - that's valid too - but have actual *reasons*, not just whatever anti-AI nonsense you've picked up online. Especially in light of the paragraphs below.

More people are considering AI lovers and we shouldn't judge.

On behalf of linguists everywhere, I can't even.

Regrettably, this problem is one of my specialties. The reason is about compatibility with old software from the 1960s. It's a long story.

The ICAO/IATA recommended solution is to use the spelling of your name in the MACHINE-READABLE part of your passport. See attached image:

Not exactly high quality memeage, but I did lol.

But then, I think people who believe in AGI are fools anyway.

Hao's got "scaling laws" right here. This is the important point: You need a bigger network AND more data AND more compute (= either more time or more computers or faster computers or a combination of the three)/2
July 9, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Okay, part of the problem here is @karenhao.bsky.social 's description of neural networks. She only uses the word "neuron" twice in Ch. 5, in these two paras as historical contextualization. If Sustskever really thinks bigger brains = more intelligence, then he's a fool. Hao doesn't cite anything./1

If anybody is within arm's reach of @benwray1989.bsky.social, can you please smack him upside the head for writing this. These two paragraphs demonstrate a complete failure to understand the history of AI or its present development.

As a test, I asked Gemini to find the article you're referring to about the Légion Etrangère. Wow, for freaking *Google* AI, it wouldn't even try. And I pay for Gemini! (Well, the boss pays...)

ChatGPT did try, and gave an answer, although it looks wrong.

Today in AI papers I just found: arxiv.org/pdf/2506.18781

tl;dr: LLMs that know A>B and B>C can still assert that A
