I'd argue a very bad decision by sitting Dem POTUS and advisors as much "produced" that victory as GOP infighting, but... there's also very real '20 election and elections since DJT took office.

It'd be great for folks to honestly describe electoral landscape. not add to DJT dishonest revisionism.

Yeah, surprised at weak messaging. I'd've said something like: We hoped huge election defeats would show GOP how unpopular & damaging the budget bill is and they'd agree to stop the worst, most dangerous aspects of policies. It didn't, we're not monsters and need to get folks fed and back to work

You're quoting the creep who destroyed Max Cleland for money on "honor or shame?"

Ok.

They have notebooks full of ideas, you commies.

Nah, they are both afraid of pissing off rich dudes.
November 10, 2025 at 2:28 PM
I get it. And you'll do that if you'd like, of course. My attitude at this juncture - from shut down to elections - is there's one clear villain, the party in power, and that's where my focus would lie - both in blame for the shut down and electoral energy.

But the great this is we all get to chose
November 10, 2025 at 4:33 AM
Ok. We can revisit this in a few months.
November 10, 2025 at 4:08 AM
Do you know what a realistic statewide primary campaign costs there? I'd much rather spend that money on Iowa, Maine and NC - and 20+ house races...

Unfortunate reality is resources+time are finite. There's plenty of things to prioritize fixing, I don't think symbolic primaries are place to start
November 10, 2025 at 4:06 AM
Neither of our opinions will matter anyway, but I'd rather Dems put 2x the money into winning Iowa, Maine or North Carolina than burn it on a Warner primary.
November 10, 2025 at 4:02 AM
I love Mamdani, but Warner is not Adams, Silwa or Cuomo.

It's just not realistic. There are Dems that can be beaten - but Warner is not high on that list.
November 10, 2025 at 3:03 AM
You could primary Warner.

Or you could burn a pile of Democratic donor's money.

Sometimes people are so unserious as to be... I dunno.

There are Dems that might be vulnerable (and worthwhile) to try to primary. Warner is not one.
November 10, 2025 at 2:07 AM
Doubt this is true, except in rarified punditry/political elite circles.

DJT and GOP will take a victory lap no matter what deal is reached. Dems will brag about SNAP and RIFs

And spin will likely have little effect on folks already frustrated. Economics of next 12 months are more important.

If we'd had on-line betting restrictions in 1919, the Sox would never have turned black!

I'll point to Vonnegut (et al) and wish folks spent more time admiring, discussing and reveling in the fact that art/writing/building/dance etc (all creativity) is FUN and makes us human - and is a window into other's humanity. Emphasis on "is it great?!" "are they geniuses?!" is kinda bad, often.

Palantir CEO - famous for running a city - says an idea Bloomberg had and "commie" cities from Akron to Vail to Kansas City to Chapel Hill (among dozens of others) currently have - can't work.

I'd believe him.
November 9, 2025 at 7:11 PM
Yeah - often Axios is Lucy and readers are the Charlie Brown.

Also, it's wild how many folks seem to just wanna screech "Dem leaders are awful" in the wake of across-the-country and across-the-ballot electoral wins for months now, as well as a well-disciplined caucus holding firm.

Maybe... nuance?

That voice... how does anyone with free will choose to listen to that voice. I thought it was a comedic voice-over.

"overt" Nazi...
November 9, 2025 at 12:28 AM
An AI bailout today is like Marie Antoinette telling the peasants to eat cake... but insisting they bake her a Louis one first.

I mean... I'd expect that to rouse some rabble - even on the GOP side.
November 9, 2025 at 12:25 AM
I'm sure it's some sort of grift for them. Everyone in this administration is just grabbing money like they won one of those "anything you can snag off the shelves in 5 minutes!" sweepstakes. They know this gold laying goose won't last forever. I'm sure there's an angle to this.
November 9, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Not to let anyone off the hook, but I'd rather be on the nod than listen to RFK as well.

"Can Mamdani win over Ross Doufus and DJT?" The important question on every regular old Newyorker's mind...
