Following the Baltimore Orioles from Glasgow, Scotland.
My 1st reaction is I don't hate trading Grayson. Means we move on and there's no 'will he, won't he'. He's gone, fill the roster spot with an acquisition.
Not crazy about Ward. Mainly due to being another corner outfielder and now no real room for an out & out centrefielder.

Surprised to see so many positive comments about Bradfield Jr. While his elite defence & speed may get him to the majors, he's got to be doing more with the bat before we could be excited about him.
Fall League numbers. .221 BA, .652 OPS. 0 HRs in 92 PAs.

There's obviously a reason why Rico Garcia has bounced around and we've picked him up for nothing, but maybe we can fix him.

Rico Garcia with the most important contribution of the game. Enters with bases loaded, nobody out and gets 3 strikeouts.

In the last week, the Orioles are 6-2 against the Mariners, Astros and Red Sox, all likely playoff teams.
No marbles on the line, but would rather win them than lose them.

What these moves mean is we are almost certainly trading Laureano, Eflin, Sugano today, as well as Mullins and O'Hearn.
Ok - you still want to get a decent return for them all and Eflin may still be worth keeping to make a qualifying offer to.

Didn't expect Urias. I thought Kittridge was a possibility, but def hurts the 2026 Os.
Urias is great injury cover but as we've seen, production drops when he's not playing every day. Hopefully that doesn't come back to hurt us next year.
July 31, 2025 at 6:51 AM
ha... Cedric Mullins. That's crazy.
July 30, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Dominguez, O'Hearn & Morton are certs to be moved.
Mullins is a probable.
Eflin & Sugano are possible, but would surely be reserved for teams who are desperate.

We are certainly well into the Mike Elias era, which has been something like the Orioles have never seen. I've generally been a fan of the process and that it gives a smaller market club like the Orioles the best chance of success.
the Kyle Stowers game should provide lessons though.

O's yet to name a game 3 starter for the Rangers series. Would be Sugano on current rotation. I'd guess the plan is to try & rest him and Eflin to the weekend. Perhaps we will see Brandon Young for Hiraldo as a spot starter. Young last pitched 20th June.
June 24, 2025 at 9:53 AM
Since game 2 of the double header in Boston, the O's have won 18 of 28 games. This is a .642 winning %age. We need to play at a .619 winning %age the rest of the way to get to 86 wins. Tough, but not impossible.

Never mind
Some game to win. 1st time I’ve allowed myself to properly think the Os are going to get back into this.

Since Charlie Morton returned to the rotation on 26th May, the O's have won all 5 starts that he has made. Morton has a 4-0 in those games.
Insane turnaround from someone who was moved to mop up duty after just 5 appearances.

Horrific news from the Orioles about minor leaguer Luis Guevara.
Absolute tragedy for his family, friends and team mates to lose someone at 19.
😪

It's becoming clearer that the Red Sox had to move Devers. It may cost them this year, or it may galvanise the team if they have gotten rid of a 'bad apple'.
Either way, it's probably good in the long term that they've dropped his entire salary.
June 17, 2025 at 12:51 PM
The O's would have to go 56-36 the rest of the way to get to 86 wins (chance of a WC spot). That is baseball at a .609 winning %age.
Added to that, if they split the series in Tampa AND beat the Yankees 2-1 in NYC, the required winning %age goes UP to .612.
June 16, 2025 at 1:25 PM
The Red Sox were a .500 team last year. They added Bregman and Crochet (and locked up the latter, long term) among other acquisitions. From a slow start, they had got above .500 & into the playoff spots. They have had 1 good season in the last 6. And now this?

Great for the Giants, I’d say.

Fevers is irreplaceable.
June 15, 2025 at 11:05 PM
Carlson the only offensive spark yesterday. He is edging more towards being an every day player than being optioned for Tyler O'Neill.
Wouldn't be surprised if the Os are slow playing O'Neill's rehab to defer making a decision.
At the moment, you can't bring back O'Neill & option Carlson.

Big problem for the O's - is that with Kremer and Morton in the rotation (as they were always going to be). Series' like this were inevitable over the course of a season.
Finally, the offence did enough.
But it's still been a low ceiling rotation, even if they've steadied the ship of late.

Close to moving from a place of having no hope to having some hope and then onto the inevitable spirit crushing that is definitely going to happen in the next 3 months.

Is 6 wins in a row good?
