New research suggests that school libraries, aside from supporting and strengthening pupils' academic achievement, also play a vital role in supporting pupil wellbeing. ❤️📚

It might surprise you, therefore, that there is no legal requirement for Scotland’s schools to have a school library or librarian.

We are calling on Scottish Government to change this story.

Happy 10th Birthday Read Write Count! 🥳 Since 2015, we have given over 2.5 million books to P2s and P3s across Scotland, with the support of The Scottish Government.📚

To celebrate, we met up with Ollie, who received on of the first packs in 2015, and his sister Elia, who will get hers this year.

Recent research from @literacy-trust.bsky.social found that levels of writing enjoyment have almost halved over the past 15 years, decreasing by 20.2 percentage points since 2010.
