Birding Ramsgate area and north Pegwell, east Kent, UK. Used to be a shrikefinder on another platform.
A rather nice dark Arctic Skua flew quite close (for here) whilst I was at the harbour on Saturday #kentbirding

Yellow brow still present in Nethercourt Park this lunchtime, but did not perform for the camera (yet). Best I could manage over the last few days was a latish Pied Fly also in Nethercourt and a pair of nice Arctic Terns from Ramsgate West Cliff.

A great morning at Nethercourt Park where a Yellow-browed Warbler showed quite well eventually after calling from high up in the trees. Also Firecrest, Goldcrests, Chiffs. Overhead a few Redwings and Siskins plus 3 Crossbills.

A few more terns at Pegwell on the tide this evening including 1 Arctic and 7 Common. Now 2 Ruff on the salt marsh #kentbirding

A gazillion Med Gulls on last night’s tide. Among the terns I could only pick out Sandwich, and not in great numbers either. Usual waders, but a Ruff flew in and landed quite close on the marsh.

Yesterday I saw a Common Buzzard over Ramsgate Harbour. It had a white tag on its left wing. After some research, the only schemes I could find that fits these are German. Unless anyone knows different? I couldn’t read any numbers and I didn’t see which direction the bird arrived from #kentbirding

My first trip to Stodmarsh in years late this afternoon. Ringtail Hen Harrier in to roost just before 4:15. Then a male Hen Harrier in just after 4:15. A hunting Barn Owl, several Marsh Harriers and Fieldfares whilst I was waiting. By the time I left, there were two Barn Owls out. #kentbirding

The best birding month for me for 2024 was November, with my first Little Auk for Ramsgate Harbour, my first Pallas’s in 23 years (twitched) and a few others. Back to the patch tomorrow for the start of 2025. Happy New Year to all and enjoy your birding, however you choose to do it. #kentbirding

A seemingly never ending slog around the RSPB Blean Woods complex today, fuelled by copious amounts of Christmas chocolate, but the target bird was found just before 3pm in deteriorating conditions, and so the day was saved. #kentbirding

Took a trip to Godmersham Park today. Didn’t have a clue where to look but eventually located the target bird in a treetop behind a high brick wall. With other finches flying up and down to an unseen food source. Also Nuthatch, Treecreeper. Nearby at Denge Wood, 2 Firecrest, a few Siskin, Coal Tits.
