As an anthropologist I spent so many years working with human remains. The last 10 or so in Philly. The amount we have learned from physical collections is immense, but I am left with the thought “At what cost?” How do we justify collections after the repeated harm to descendent communities?

I found this humerus. As an anthropologist, I loved looking at the similarities in bones across our ancestors. This has since expanded into a love of the functional morphology of the humeri across taxa. Here is a healed fracture of an adult cougar. #comparativeanatomy #bones
